DeWayne Goodgine



Bro. DeWayne began serving as Pastor of First Baptist in June of 2006. He is married to Tesha Goodgine and they have two children, Madilyn Goodgine (8) and Grayson Cole Goodgine ( 1 year old on March 20).

DeWayne received his Master of Divinity degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville Kentucky in 2005. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Biblical Studies from Union University in 2001. He graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview, TN in 1997.

DeWayne’s ministry began while he was a student at Union University. He served as Youth and Children’s Minister at Lakeview Baptist Church  in Selmer, TN and First Baptist Church in Bolivar, TN. First Baptist Church of Dyer is Dewayne’s first pastorate.

DeWayne’s passion is for the church to be missional in all that we do. He has led mission trip efforts to Quito, Ecuador, Israel, Thailand, Costa Rica and stateside trips.

DeWayne is also active at the state convention level having served on the Historical committee of the Tennessee Baptist Convention and associational level as President of the Pastor’s conference and most recently voted by the Gibson Baptist Association as Moderator.

DeWayne enjoys spending time with his family, reading, loves sports and enjoys fulfilling God’s purpose for his life by serving as Pastor.

Jason Alford

Associate Pastor of Music and Education

Jason Alford has been a part of the Dyer First Baptist family since November of 2014. Jason is pursuing a Master of Arts in Worship and a Master of Theological Studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. Jason received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Delta State University in 2002, and his high school diploma from Philadelphia High School in Philadelphia, MS in 1995.

As Associate Pastor of Music and Education Jason is responsible for all aspects of the music program here as well as serving as education director. Teaching others (not only through music) about our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ is mandated for us to do through the Great Commission. (Matt 28:19-20) Jason wants everyone to know Christ in His fullness and learn to walk in Jesus’ likeness everywhere.

Prior to moving to Dyer, Jason was a full-time student on the campus of Southwestern, where he was employed in the landscaping department. He also served as Minister of Music at Bethesda Baptist Church in Burleson, TX; Trinity Baptist Church in Vicksburg, MS; and Yale Street Baptist Church in Cleveland, MS. He also spent 8 years as a high/middle school band director in Mississippi.

Jason loves working outdoors doing landscaping and gardening in their yard. He is married to Rhonda, his wife of 8 years, and they have two children, Adren and Brandy.
